Understanding Individual Life Purpose
What is life purpose?
Life purpose is one, unifying theme or idea that exemplifies key goals in life, a theme that has been evident from the beginning of a person's life.
It is the specific way in which you engage with life and draws on your unique experiences, talents, abilities, and interests helping you achieve your highest goals while being of service to others.
Life purpose is defined as having set goals and a direction for one's life (Hill et al, 2010). Having purpose in your life, you feel good about the way your are living.
You feel there is some ultimate reasons for your actions and and you are contributing to the world in some important way. Giving you a sense of satisfaction and connectedness; therefore, allowing you to reach higher levels of well-being.
There is only one purpose for all life: Experience life in its fullest glory. The wonder of this purpose is never-ending. The more you are, the more you become, and the more your can become, the more you can yet be. (Conversations with God by Neale Donald Walsch. Pg 26, Book 1)
We have been taught things just happen, we have no control over our experiences. This is not accurate! Though there is only one purpose for all life - we decide how we want to experience it.
What we want to impact in our world.
The deepest secret is that life is not a process of discovery, but a process of creation.
You are not discovering yourself but creating yourself anew.
Seek, therefore, not to find out Who You Are, seek to determine Who You Want to Be.
The purpose of your life is to create your experience - and thus, create your Self - in the glorious moment of Now. (Conversations with God by Neale Donald Walsch. Pg 46-47, Book 1)
